ALERT ****
Attention all members!
Please be aware of a scam that is making its way around Melfort!
Dated: June 15, 2010
-
Phone Call
#1: A caller will telephone your business
advising you that your business will be going through a health
inspection and that you will receive a 2nd call giving you a
file number.
-
Phone Call
#2: Is a computer generated phone call giving you
the file number as mentioned in phone call #1.
"Craig's List" may also be referenced in this call.

Phone Call
#3: A caller will make contact with you once
again and request the file number given to you during the
computer generated phone call. It is
believed this file number some how links you up with an
account for Craig's List -- an online trading/selling website
that is known to have a questionable reputation (is often
in the news).
It is unclear at this point if by
providing the file number, you have unknowingly activated an
account enabling the scammers to charge sales to your business;
the businesses affected just discovered the scam early on and are
in the process of having their business removed from Craig's List.
